It all must line up

For the last few weeks, Charlie and his team have been putting the roof on the house. Again this is not any roof. The saw tooth roof with the long overhang has surprised us by the intensity of labour to build. Each piece of timber for the roof section is custom shaped to fit. Now the timber sheeting has been applied and measurement taken for the plumber to come and put the steel cladding for the roof on.

But organizing the materials for the roof is a challenge. The roof is pressed steel, which has a laplink joint that stands proud of the roof. The joints and the ridges need to line up with the vertical steels of the roof glazing. A challenge is make sure waste is minimized whilst ensuring that the joints line up as detailed.
