Building progress

Well good progress has been made over the last 3 weeks. The floor over the accommodation wing has been laid with the step down in place to accommodate the falls for each of the bathrooms. All of the timber stud work is up, so you can now see how the rooms sizes are and the location of the windows. The steel columns are up, though now we are waiting for the steel roof sections to arrive on site. The bricklayers have had a good run aided by the weather so they are at grid point “j” on the long western flank of the building.

This week the window, that I have been talking about for a long time should be transported up onto the site to be lifted into place, this will be a monumental step in my mind because of the size/scale of this piece and the transformation to the current built form.

Of course whilst all this is going on there has been numerous other activities to keep the building and the opening of the lodge on track such as sourcing floor tiles, bathroom fittings including the bath, door hardware, free standing lighting, kitchen appliances and furniture has been sourced for delivery.

The weather has been very favourable and one keeps looking at the satellite maps watching and waiting thinking is this going to be the storm that will slow the build down, of course once the roof is on we can relax a little bit.
